Illustrative Case Study: An Online Store Answers "Where Is My Order?" Automatically
How a small online store could hand its most repeated question to a WhatsApp chatbot that reads the order status from Shopify and replies in seconds.

This is an illustrative scenario built from common patterns, not a report on a specific customer. Your results will depend on your business, your customers and how you set it up.
The situation
A growing online store sells to customers across the country. After every dispatch, the support inbox fills with one question: "Where is my order?" The answer is always in the store dashboard, but someone has to look it up, copy it and reply, hundreds of times a week.
What the store sets up
The store connects Shopify to its WhatsApp number and builds a short chatbot:
- A customer writes "order" or "track".
- The bot asks for the order number and checks that it is a number.
- It calls Shopify with "Get an order by number" and reads the status, tracking link and total.
- It replies with the status and a "Track order" button.
- It offers buttons for "Return or exchange" and "Talk to us".
The whole flow is on our e-commerce orders solution page. The Shopify guide explains how to connect the store.
What changes for the team
- The most repeated question is answered instantly, day and night.
- Support spends its time on returns, damaged goods and special cases.
- Customers do not wait in a queue to hear a status they could read themselves.
- Dispatch and delay updates can go out as approved templates, so customers do not need to ask.
What to measure
Track how many order-status chats are resolved by the bot, the time to first reply, and how many chats still reach a person.
Setting it up
You need a Shopify custom app with order read access, a chatbot, and a few buttons. If you would rather not do it yourself, we can build it for you.
Common questions
Is this a real customer?
No. It is an illustrative scenario built from common patterns.
What if the order number is wrong?
