How to Send Your First WhatsApp Campaign Without Getting Blocked
A good first campaign builds trust and a healthy number. A bad one gets you reported. Here is a safe way to do it, from consent to measuring results.

Your first campaign sets the reputation of your number. Send something relevant to people who want it and they reply. Send something careless and they block you, which hurts your number's quality for everyone you message next.
Here is a safe way to start.
1. Start with consent
Only message customers who have agreed to hear from you on WhatsApp: they ticked a box, sent you a message first or asked you to contact them. Keep a tag such as "Opted in" on those contacts so you can pick them in a campaign.
2. Choose a narrow audience
Do not message everyone. Pick a group with something in common and a reason to care: customers who bought in the last 90 days, or people who asked about a product. Tags and custom fields make this easy.
3. Use an approved template
Start from a ready-made template, change the words to sound like you, and submit it for approval. Make the benefit clear in the first line, and tell people what to do next.
4. Send a small batch first
Send to a few dozen customers first. Look at delivery, reads and replies, and watch for complaints.
5. Pick a sensible time
Send when people are awake and likely to look at their phone. Avoid late nights.
6. Be ready for replies
Replies will come, and quickly. Make sure the shared inbox is open, or a chatbot is ready to answer the common questions, so the conversation is not left hanging.
7. Read the results
After the send, look at delivered, read and replied counts. Which offer got replies? Which group did not respond? Use that to shape the next campaign.
Build the habit
One careful campaign a week to the right people will do more than a monthly blast to everyone. Engage handles the sending, the audience, the sending speed and the analytics; you handle the message and the follow-up.

Common questions
How big should my first campaign be?
Start with a small group of engaged customers, check the replies and any blocks, and then grow. A healthy first send teaches you more than a big one.
What if people reply STOP?
Respect it at once. Tag them so they are left out of future campaigns, and keep your opt-out easy to use.
